Flash Fiction:

With a smooth stroke Gregory sent the canoe skimming ahead, his heart thrilling as the water parted in ripples around the bow, carving the path to his future. Raising his face, he breathed deeply of the fragrant air while the sun caressed his skin, pale from years behind the glass and steel walls of his office. No more. Today he started to live.

“Will he remember me?” A slight breeze cooled his cheeks; the beauty surrounding him eased the wild beat of his pulse. No traffic, horns, deadlines. Only peace, quiet, love. His heart surged with an unfamiliar emotion, hope.
