Here are a few more paragraphs from my current wip, THE SHED. In this scene, Scott has a moment of panic.

*  *  *  *
Arthur shifted, gripped his wrists. Sudden, reflexive panic swept through Scott as Arthur pinned his hands over his head and began to plunder his mouth. He fought against the feeling, wanting this moment with the beautiful man, but the remembered stench of alcohol and lust and his own despair swamped his senses.

He jerked his head to the side, tears stinging his eyes. His chest heaved as he tried to calm his thundering heart. “Please stop.”

Arthur froze, then rolled off him. Scott struggled to sit up and Arthur slid an arm across his shoulders to help him. He kept hold of his hands when Scott would have pulled them away. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

Scott gave a painful laugh. “I don’t even know where to begin.”

Arthur clicked his tongue, clearly concerned. “Was it a rough lover, hon? I know all about that.”

“Not exactly.” Scott stared at their clasped hands. How much should he say? How he longed to unburden his dark secret! He’d only ever told Mary. But they’d just met. What if Arthur didn’t want to see him again? His heart stumbled. What if Arthur was revolted by him, the trash his father always called him?

Blurb:

As a Certified Mental Health Therapist, Scott Reid has his share of interesting experiences, though nothing compares with the time he spends with the psychic, Alex Elson. Plagued by terrifying images and dreams, Alex turns to Doctor Reid in the hopes of learning to control his visions. Instead, Scott is pulled into Alex’s world, where dreams and reality mix and nightmares are real.

Two young men, brothers, have been abducted from the lake outside of Oakton without a trace of who took them. That is, until Alex receives a silver pocket watch in the mail belonging to the elder brother, a taunt from the kidnapper for Alex to come find them. Alex’s visions turn at once into nightmares. Images flash in his mind of an abandoned well and a terrified, lonely boy slowly dying at the bottom. The shed looms close by, holding a horrifying secret, a dark place Alex’s frightened mind refuses to go.

With the help of Scott Reid, Alex endeavors to control his visions and find the brutalized victims before death claims them. But the watch is ticking away and time’s running out.

    This story just gets better, more exciting and romantic. Love your taster. I hope Scott finds courage soon to share and that Arthur understands

    I am covered in goose flesh every time I read an excerpt from this story. It is a page turner of intense proportion and I simply cannot wait to read more. Dangling above the well, myself, this is a cliffhanger I willingly inject full strength directly into my veins…! xo

  3. I loved this scene. The mixture of conflict and passion was well done. The more I read the more i love these characters. I’m dying to know what his secret is and if he’ll trust Arthur to tell.
