It’s #snippetsunday!

snippetsunday2Hello! Welcome to Snippet Sunday! It’s the weekly event when authors post 8 to 10 lines of things they are writing, editing, querying, or for which they’re obsessively checking sales figures! You can find the other snippets HERE.

This week I’m continuing with my fantasy WIP. Nathan is on his way to rescue Kavi from the Nagal prison, but will he arrive on time?

*  *  *  *

Kavi came awake with the memory of Nathan’s desperate cries ringing in his ears. Blinking, he opened his eyes to blackness and cold stones. His head throbbed when he sat up and he put a hand instinctively to his forehead, wincing when his fingers came away sticky with blood.

He couldn’t help grinning when he remembered the well placed kick that had earned him the blow from Landlan. Unfortunately, he’d lost consciousness or he might have been able to find a way to escape while the man dealt with his pain.

Almost blind in the darkness, Kavi crawled along the floor until he reached a wall, then sat with his back to its damp surface, wrinkling his nose at the smell of decay. His wrists and ankles burned where the skin had been scraped raw from the rusting shackles. Damn, he didn’t want to be there anymore.

    Nasty place to wake up in– literally and figuratively. It’s very well-evoked here.
