Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends—though he’s not the target—Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it… until he meets the object of their efforts, Adrian, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all.
Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date hearing men before, but being deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.
Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.
The Inspiration Behind The Story
A special note from Tempe!
When I first wrote Adrian I knew he was more than just a plot point for Desires’ Guardian. He was so much more than that, though I know some people thought it strange that I went to all the trouble of making this shy, sweet Deaf professor for Chase to NOT wind up with, lol. At the time, I hadn’t decided who his match would be, but I knew he would become one of the DE family.
Simon has been part of the Desires Entwined world from the very beginning, though you didn’t see as much of him as I would have liked. Unfortunately, he caught his boyfriend with another guy between Designs of Desire and Desires’ Guardian so he spent a lot of sime being gun shy and a little depressed—you see that in Desires’ Guardian, in fact.
But when I started to write Signs of Desire, I hadn’t decided if I should have Adrian with Simon or Grayson, lol. You see when I figured out which guy would be my other MC in chapter one (it’s on page! Seriously, Simon is who figures it out, even if he didn’t know he would then be put on the spot for the rest of the book, hehe). But if you want even further back, you would have to go back to my college days and lust over the sexiest college prof ever. *wipes drool off chin* Adrian is loosly based off this man, including the fact he’s Deaf. The subject is wrong, the orientation is wrong. So are other points, but that man inspired more than one naughty thought and well… as an author, I get to rewrite reality to fit what I want so Adrian is gay, a little toppy, sweet, and a little geeky. Yum.
He’s also just what Simon needs. Unfortunately, I have a friend that has a family that is far to much like Simon’s, just not as rich. But as authors, we can take reality, twist it, and then give those we love, the happily-ever-afters they deserve. I hope you enjoy my newest offering with the Desires Entwind series!

“This is my favorite in this series so far. I love seeing how these characters are growing, all of them. As individuals, as couples, as friends, and as a family.”
—MM Good Book Reviews, on “Desires’ Guardian”
“The writer did an excellent job with the characters, they are likable and perfect. Not perfect in the way that they have no flaws, but in a way that they grab you and complement each other.”
