Welcome to Rainbow Snippets! The first chapter of SWEET WILLIAM can be found HERE. Today, I’ll start with chapter two, from William’s point of view.
* * *
“Fetch my sidepiece,” he demanded and rocked on his heels while he waited. His gaze strayed to the man at the end of the dining hall and warmth crept from his heart and eased his anger. He’d despaired of seeing Fredrick again. His father had been cruel in his dismissal of his tutor and lover. He put fingers to his lips where the memory of Freddie’s kisses still burned after all these years. Funny, he thought he’d gotten over him.

William Wilkerson leads the life of the privileged rich. Head of his father’s shipping business, he indulges to his heart’s content in the pleasures of the flesh with Boston’s finest young men.
That is, until he reunites with Fredrick: his former tutor and the one man who captured his heart.
But William’s father has declared Fredrick off limits. And Fredrick, himself, believes he’s beneath the attention of the Wilkerson heir.
After having lost his current pupil to graduation, and with no prospects of a replacement, Frederick is homeless, hungry, and easy pickings for the men on the docks.
When Frederick is shanghaied into service on William’s own merchant ship, will William discover his plight in time to rescue him?
I love the setting you’ve created with your words and the dialogue. (heart)
Very nice. I’ve enjoyed all of your Sweet William snippets. 🙂
Another nice snippet, I’m looking forward to reading the book.
Lovely snippet. That last line—I don’t know if we ever fully “get over” first loves. Good thing they have a second chance! ❤
Shakes head – no I don’t think you have got over him.
Poor William, looks like his heart might take a bit of a beating before the end of this.
Love the emotion in this snippet.
