It was a short drive to the fairgrounds at the top of the hill overlooking Cedar Ridge, but the carnival rides loomed in the sky, and Cory was transported to another world, one of glitter and flash, brilliant color, and laughter and dreams.
He didn’t know he’d sighed until Jules leaned across the console and nuzzled his ear. “Come in with me,” he coaxed, tickling Cory’s neck with his warm breath. “You should be with me.”
Cory was tempted, surprised by a longing he couldn’t suppress. But two men in outfits as flashy as Jules’s, one with outrageous purple hair and the other a redhead, lounged against the entrance gate, making him self-conscious. “I need to get to class,” he said diffidently.
“Be late.” Jules dropped a hand on his thigh, and Cory’s thoughts scattered as Jules walked his fingers up his leg.

For Jules, the carnival is life, the other carnies his family, friends, lovers. He can’t think of anywhere else he’d rather be. But the carnival has a secret, that if found out, could bring an end to their ideal existence. What with falling in love with a local man, and a detective dogging their heels about the body found on the hill above the fairgrounds, his perfect life just might be changing, and he has no idea if it is for the better.
Your snip, juxtaposed with the story blurb makes for a lovely, intriguing glimpse. Looking forward to more.
Temptation is touching him…;)
Decisions, decisions…
Jules knows what he wants, but Cory needs to figure it out! ❤️
Love how their worlds are colliding, here. 🙂
Oh, go on Cory, you know you wanna.
Love the description in this snippet.
Oh very nice, yes be late (of course I read it as ‘too late’ the first two times and had an opposite reaction)
